Very cool! I guess I'll need to get a sound system to be able to sit Lucy's trot -- can't do the medium, just collected. And how do you do the hand written notes? I LOVE it!

Awesome! I'm excited to see the AK notes :)

I can certainly understand that it would be difficult to sit Lucy's medium trot. Try music :).
Thanks for telling me that you liked the written notes. I was afraid they might be annoying so it's good to know. I enjoy doing them this way sometimes because it feels like a more organic journaling experience. Also I can sit in my comfy chair by the fire instead of going to the computer :).
I do them on a Samsung tablet that has a 'pen'. I use the program it comes with, S Note. If you hit share it gives you different options to save first. Save it as a jpeg and it will then give the option to share to blogger.
Good luck with the sitting trot. Let's keep one another posted - I still have lots to do to be consistent. Can we be there by spring??

Ahhhh! Musical Freestyle is one of my favorites, and we always have music in the indoor. I think that when you get into it, your body is more relaxed as you are not just riding, you are listening. Many years ago I arranged for my Classical Dressage teacher to perform with 5 graduate students from the dance department (State University of New York/Brockport) at one of our annual freestyle presentations. It would work beautifully at your place. We had dressage and western performances, incredible line driving, as well as a driving freestyle. All to music and so beautiful. Always well attended. A dance recital for horses!
Sounds great! I love musical freestyle. We have a sound system in the indoor and I love it. I'll check out that link you put up. Good luck with your playlists and riding to them.

I'm going to post about the wonderfully fun ride I had on Lucy a few days ago but wanted you to know that while I was riding her, I thought about a song with a strong beat in my head while I tried to sit her trot. It definitely helped. Now I just need to get a sound system set up! Maybe I can get Brett to channel Doug...

Wow, that sounds fantastic! Thanks for telling me about it.

Thanks! Maybe some of us should post our favourite riding music...

I'm going to go look for this post. In researching free style history I found that the old masters got their students to sing, so you're in good company :)

I just found your blog today and am enjoying it. I recently found a song that matches my horse's slow trot and it's so fun to use it while trotting - although I have to use an ipod cuz there's no stereo. And the darn earbuds keep falling out...
